Heavy Duty Shower & Tap Water Filter – 15 Layer Filtration System (1 Year Warranty) Removes Chlorine, Heavy Metals & Odor

No electrical work. The main things that go wrong are a missed O-ring and forgetting to flush the new cartridge.

1. Turn off the water supply to the filter and release the pressure by opening the filtered tap.
2. Put a towel and a bowl underneath. The housing holds water and it will come out.
3. Open the housing — usually a twist, or a spanner supplied with the unit. Note which way up the old cartridge sits.
4. Check the O-ring. Take the old one out, wipe the groove clean and fit the new O-ring if one came with the cartridge. A dry or damaged O-ring is the usual cause of a leak after a filter change.
5. Fit the new cartridge the same way up, seated squarely in the housing.
6. Hand-tighten only unless the manufacturer says otherwise. Overtightening splits housings.
7. Turn the water back on slowly and check for leaks before walking away.
8. Flush it before you drink from it. Run the filtered tap for the time the pack states — usually a few minutes — to clear carbon fines. Discoloured first water is normal and should run clear.

Note the date on the housing with a marker. Most cartridges are due every six to twelve months depending on use and water quality.
