Technovate Pressure Reducing Valve 1/2 Inch

No electrical work, but water under pressure. Know where your main stopcock is before you start.

1. Turn off the supply at the isolating valve, or the mains stopcock if there is no local isolator.
2. Release the pressure by opening the nearest tap, and have a towel and bowl ready.
3. Note the flow direction. Valves and non-return fittings are usually marked with an arrow and will not work fitted backwards.
4. Remove the old fitting, supporting the pipework with a second spanner so you do not twist or strain the joint behind it.
5. Clean the threads and wrap fresh PTFE tape — four to six turns in the direction the fitting screws on. Use a fibre washer where the fitting is designed for one.
6. Fit hand-tight, then nip up with a spanner. Most leaks come from overtightening and splitting the fitting, not from undertightening.
7. Turn the water back on slowly and check the joint dry with tissue rather than by eye.
8. Check again after an hour — a slow weep takes time to show.

Keep the packaging and your invoice until the part is fitted and tested — warranty claims need the order number.
