Geyser Heating Element Suitable for AO Smith 15 to 35 Liter Geyser (Match and Buy)

Fitted exactly like a standard flange element, with one difference that matters: the glass-line coating is what resists scale, and chipping it in handling undoes the reason you bought it. Mains electricity and hot water — a technician is the safer route if you are unsure.

1. Switch off at the geyser switch AND the MCB, then let the tank cool for an hour or more.
2. Close the inlet, open a hot tap, and drain the tank fully before touching the flange.
3. Photograph the wiring at the terminals before disconnecting.
4. Undo the flange bolts evenly and withdraw the old element.
5. Handle the new element by the flange only. Do not rest the coated tube on concrete, do not tap it to clear packaging, and do not use it to lever scale out of the tank — a chipped coating will corrode from that point.
6. Fit the new gasket supplied, seat the element squarely and tighten in a cross pattern, evenly and not over-tight.
7. Refill completely before switching on. Run a hot tap until the flow is steady and air-free. A dry switch-on destroys the element immediately and voids the warranty.
8. Check the flange for leaks cold, then again after a full heat cycle.

Glass-lined elements slow scale build-up; they do not stop it. In hard-water areas, draining the tank once a year still pays for itself.
